Game(s): Suikoden Tierkreis
Age and Birthday: 24. Not from Gensoworld, so she doesn’t have an “In Solis” birth year. Following the theme of Tierkreis, I declare her a Gemini.
Appearance: Chrodechild is a tall, stately, athletic woman with short blonde hair and striking green eyes. When in mercenary mode, she wears a lightweight, flowing blue uniform and armor, and carries a sword at each hip, one of which is beautifully ornamented.
Personality: Chrodechild has a stony demeanor, layered on thick with a warrior’s posture and a deep code of honor. Those few she allows to get close to her will find an earthy warmth to her, and her loyalties, both to friends and family, run very deep. She places the needs of those she is in charge of before her own, be they the mercenaries working for or her royal subjects. She has little interest in or time for romance.
Weapons: She wields Flash, one half of the Chronicle of the Twin Blades, leaving the other in the care of her sister Fredegund. Her off-hand weapon is a finely crafted Black Blade.
Occupation: Swordswoman-Princess-turned-Mercenary-turned-Queen
Talents: She is a top-class swordswoman and has both natural and trained leadership qualities. I’d like to think her training as princess and noble warrior also gives her some random skills like tea-making or calligraphy or embroidery.
Marks of the Stars: True Falcon, Mind’s Eye, Bind Lightning, Defense Canopy.
Weaknesses: She’s a bit oblivious to other people’s feelings, not out of cruelty but simply not understanding those who are more emotional than she is. She is quite stubborn, and though she is not quick to anger, her anger rises VERY hot once it strikes, and it is
hard to get her to calm down.
History: Chrodechild was born as Crown Princess to the Kingdom of Astrasia and enjoyed a
childhood learning swordsmanship and mastering her abilities so as to give her younger sister Fredugund something to aspire to. All was taken away from her when The Order of the One True Way assaulted and annexed Astrasia. She was forced to flee, believing the rest of her family lost. She and the warriors who helped her escape established a mercenary company known as the Blade of Night’s Veil, which she captained. The Blade of Night’s Veil was taken into protection by the Royal Magedom of Janaam---but the Emperor of the Magedom had an
ulterior motive. He wished to make Chrodechild his fourth wife, so that he would gain the right to inherit Astrasia. She tried to fend off his advances for as long as she could, though after the disastrous Siege on Raazda Fortress, she was nearly blackmailed into marrying the Emperor. Instead, she and the Blades made an escape with the help of
rebel Janaamian mages led by Asad, and they joined the company of Sieg.
Sieg’s Company eventually liberated Pharamond, the Astrasian Capital, but Chrodechild was heartbroken to discover that her sister had been taken by the Order and brainwashed to serve the One True King.
Fredegund’s determination to fight on the side of the Order was fuelled by her belief that Chrodechild had intentionally abandoned her. Eventually, they met in a one-on-one duel, which Chrodechild won and managed to convince her sister that she had not known Fredegund
lived and apologized for leaving her behind. Fredegund was brought around to realize the evil the Order was perpetrating and joined her sister and the Company in hopes of repenting from her horrible works for the Order. Chrodechild and Fredugund began a rocky but definitely
successful journey in reconciling themselves with each other.
Chrodechild held off her coronation until the war with the One True King was over, serving as an able unit leader under Sieg’s command. She assisted in the success of many missions with her dazzling sword-skill, and at one point defeated the great swordswoman Yula, who
then joined the Company, impressed by such prowess.
After the war, Chrodechild did take on ruling Astrasia and worked zealously to rebuild both her kingdom and the surrounding lands.
As part of the rebuilding process, she at one point asked the Wanderer Hotupa and the archivist Diadora to examine the site at Pharamond Castle where a Gate once lay, before the war with the King closed such portals. She went with them, wanting to make sure the site was indeed both stable and dormant.
Apparently, it was not.
